Sulzer - Nopon Diffusers
The Finnish company Nokia, now better known for its mobile phones, was an early developer of disc diffusers, starting with the very widely used Nopol 215mm dia porous sintered plastic product. This was widely used from about 1980, but manufacture of these porous discs has now been discontinued.
Nopon began manufacturing 215mm and 300mm dia membrane disc diffusers in the 1990s, and there are a number of substantial installations of each in Australia. Nopon do not make tubular diffusers.
All Nopon disc diffusers clamp into tubular pipe laterals, most usually of 90mm nominal diameter PVC.
Nopon developed a cleaning system in the late 1970s to remove fouling deposits from diffuser pores and surfaces by injecting formic acid vapour into the supply pipework. A locally developed version of this cleaning system, which considerably increases economic membrane life, is now offered by Aer-Force.
The Nopon diffuser business was sold to the Swedish company ABS many years ago, and is now owned by Sulzer. Their complete diffuser range can be seen via the Sulzer web page.
